The Martian Chronicles by Ray Bradbury Journal entry 9

Five Comments
1. Everybody watched from their porches  the war occur
2. At nine clock, the people on Mars observed a great explosion
3. Australia was completely destroyed, London and Los Angeles were bombed
4.  In December there were very little people living on Mars since many of them were asked to return to Earth
5. Walter grabs the phone and starts calling people to see if there's other people still living on Mars
Four Questions
1. Why were the people on Mars trying to believe i the existence of Earth, if they used to live there before?
2. After all those people returned to Earth from Mars, did the atomic War end?
3. Why was Walter left behind?
4. If Walter was so lonely, why didn't he return to Earth?

Two Literary Techniques
1. Simile " They could read the great Morse-code flashes which flickered like  distant firefly" (Bradbury 145)
2. Imagery: " Water ran in forgotten bathtubs, poured out into living rooms, onto porches and down through little garden plots to feed neglected flowers" (Bradbury 146)
One Sentence Summary
1. The atomic war has occurred on Earth, a lot of damage has been done and a lot of people had to leave Mars as a result.
